Space Maintainers for Kids in Salisbury

Space maintainers are dental appliances used to prevent teeth from moving or rotating and are commonly used after the premature loss of a baby tooth or after an extraction. The remaining teeth may shift into the space that ideally should be available for a future adult tooth to erupt into after early baby tooth loss. Proper space maintenance is important to ensure this space is left open and for avoidance of future complicated orthodontic treatments or tooth impaction.

At Eastern Shore Pediatric Dentistry, we use a digital scanner rather than typical gag-inducing impression materials. This scan is then sent to a laboratory which will make a custom fitting appliance for your child. The appliance is then easily inserted and cemented into place without the need for any shots or anesthetic. If your child needs a space maintainer, call us at (410) 202-8515 to schedule a visit with Dr. Matt.
